A spare key should work like the original, not after three jiggles. Our mobile key cutting service duplicates house, office, and specialty keys precisely, anywhere in Costa Mesa.

Costa Mesa Locksmith
Hardware-store key kiosks are cheap for a reason. A copy made from a worn key, on a loose machine, gives you a key that sort of works, until the night it does not. Professional key duplication is different: calibrated machines, quality blanks, and a locksmith who checks the cut against factory specs.
Costa Mesa Locksmith brings the key shop to you. Our mobile units carry precision cutters and a deep stock of blanks, standard house keys, high-security keys, mailbox and cabinet keys, padlock keys, and more. We cut keys at homes, offices, and properties across Costa Mesa, usually while we are already there for another job, or as a quick standalone visit.
We are the licensed team behind Golden Locks Inc., CA License LCO4446. And we follow the rules that protect you: restricted and high-security keys are only cut with proper authorization, so your Medeco or Mul-T-Lock keys cannot be copied by just anyone.
Services
If it goes in a lock, we can usually duplicate it, precisely, and tested before we hand it over.

Hundreds of blanks
A copy is only as good as the blank and the machine behind it. Our vans carry hundreds of blanks, house keys, padlock keys, mailbox keys, and high security keys, and our cutters are calibrated so your copy turns right the first time, every time.
Copies that fight you are usually cut from a worn original on a tired machine. Bring the stiff one in and we will read its factory depths and cut back to spec instead of copying the wear. Restricted and do not duplicate keys need the right authorization, and we will walk you through what counts.
Honest pricing
| Service | Typical price range |
|---|---|
| Standard house key duplicate | $5 to $10 |
| High-security / restricted key | $25 to $60 |
| Key cut to code (no original) | $25 to $55 |
| Mailbox / cabinet / specialty key | $8 to $18 |
| Mobile service call (standalone visit) | $15 to $29 |
| Bulk duplicates (10+ keys) | Ask, per-key discounts apply |
When we are already at your home for another job, duplicate keys ride along at the per-key price with no extra service call. Standalone mobile visits carry the standard service call, still fast, still tested in your lock before we leave.
How it works
A good original makes the best copy. No original? Many locks can be decoded instead.
Calibrated machines and quality nickel-silver blanks, no soft brass that wears in a year.
Every key is cycled in the lock it belongs to. If it does not turn smoothly, we recut it on the spot.
We label your spares so future-you knows which key fits which door. Small thing, big relief later.
Local & proud
Our vans cut keys in driveways and offices all over Costa Mesa, move-in days in Mesa Verde and College Park, rental turnovers along Harbor Blvd and Adams Ave, retail shops at Triangle Square and The LAB that need staff keys logged and controlled. Property managers in 92626, 92627, and 92628 keep our number because one visit can rekey a unit and cut its full key set at once.
Buying a home near South Coast Plaza or the Back Bay? Ask the tech to cut your spares during the rekey visit, it is the cheapest, most accurate moment to build your key set, while the cylinders are already open on the bench.
Good to know
Every key copy is a photograph of a photograph. Copy a worn key and you bake its wear into the new one; copy that copy for your kids and the error doubles. Within a few generations, the key needs force, and force is what snaps keys and wears cylinders. The fix is simple: keep one clean 'master' original that never goes on a ring, and make all copies from it.
When we rekey or install a lock, the fresh keys we hand you are factory-cut originals. Tag one as the master and store it safely. Years from now, every duplicate you cut from it will turn like the lock is brand new, that is the difference a locksmith makes over a kiosk.
Call now and a licensed Costa Mesa tech can be on the way, with the price locked in before we start.
Why choose us
When you call, you reach the licensed team behind Golden Locks, the same crew Costa Mesa families have rated in 400+ five-star Google reviews. No dispatch maze, no mystery subcontractor, no bait-and-switch price at your door.
Every tech is background-checked, drives a stocked mobile unit, and confirms your final price before any work starts. If we cannot beat the dealer's price or fix it on the spot, we tell you straight.

The mobile workshop
Open the back of one of our vans and you will find a rolling workshop: a key cutting machine, fob programmers, rekey and extraction kits, and shelves of Schlage, Kwikset, and Yale hardware. That is why most jobs finish in a single visit.
It also keeps your price down. No storefront rent, no second trip for parts, no waiting on a supplier. The shop comes to you, and the savings come with it.

Good questions
Standard keys run $5 to $10 each when we are on site. High-security restricted keys cost $25 to $60 and require authorization. Every key is tested in your lock before we leave.
Yes. Bring us your best original, or let us decode the lock, and we will cut to factory measurements. A properly cut key should turn smoothly with zero jiggling.
It depends on the key. True restricted keyways (Medeco, Mul-T-Lock) are legally controlled: we cut them only for the authorized owner with ID or the key card. A stamp on a standard key is a request, not a lock, but we will always verify you have the right to copy it.
For many locks, yes, we decode the pins or use the lock's code to cut a factory-exact key. For homes, that is usually paired with a rekey for security.
Yes, transponder keys, fobs, and smart keys are covered on our car key replacement page, including cutting and programming at your car.
Our rule: one per adult in the home, one with a trusted neighbor or family member nearby, and one sealed spare at home. More than that, and key control gets fuzzy, we can also rekey to reset the count.
